Paris Whitney Hilton has been tenced her to serve 45 days in jail, after Judge Michael T. Sauerbeing found the celebrity heiress guilty of violating her probation for a drink-driving conviction.
On March 29, 2007, the Los Angeles City's Attorney's Office claimed that Hilton violated the terms of her DUI probation, and they want her to serve at least 45 days in jail. According to the prosecutors' motion filed in court on April 30, 2007, Hilton violated at least three conditions of her probation. First, prosecutors maintained, she was pulled over by L.A. Sheriff's Department Deputies on February 27, 2007 driving a new Bentley convertible at 70 m.p.h. without her headlights on in a 35 m.p.h. zone.
Second, Hilton was found driving with a suspended license - the result of her drunk driving arrest the previous September. Prosecutors also charged that Hilton violated the terms of her probation by failing to enroll in a court-ordered alcohol education program within 21 days of her January probation.
"These violations demonstrate Hilton's disregard for the vehicle laws of this state as well as for the conditions of her probation," the court filing said. "This court should ... include imprisonment as a condition of reinstating her probation."
Hilton's spokesman, Elliot Mintz, said at the time Hilton wasn't aware her license was suspended. A copy of the document Hilton signed on Jan. 15 was found in the car's glove compartment, court papers say.
She is scheduled to begin serving her sentence on June 5, 2007.
