After a two week break, Shakira has now resumed her European Tour again. The last concert was held in Mannheim, Germany on February 1. Then Shakira unfortunately fell ill and had to cancel the following three concerts in Arnhem, Oberhausen and Cologne. The Arnhem concert will be held on March 17 and new dates for the other two concerts are to be expected soon.
Going on tour is a big thing and SEAT is now learning all about it. There are 4 different SEAT trucks following Shakira's convoy. The SEAT trucks contain all the decoration material and sound & light for the exteriors and the interiors of the arenas, as well as for the VIP areas.
The Leon Pies Descalzos, which is the prize of the fundraising that SEAT is doing for Shakira's charity foundation, has its own truck. It is displayed at every concert arena to motivate the fans to donate money to help the children of Colombia.
There are eight persons in the SEAT Catch the Fever team going from arena to arena. A further 15 people are always hired locally to assist in the setup and dismantling. Depending on the venue, it takes the team from six hours to 2 days to decorate it.
At every venue the team also prepares a SEAT Shakira VIP area that usually takes about five hours to set up. The size of the VIP area differs from city to city. It can normally hold about 100 people but in Zurich, for example, about 1000 people have confirmed their participation. The band and the crew of Shakira normally find their way to all the VIP parties.
Moving a household every day
You could say that the SEAT Catch the Fever team is moving a complete household in four trucks. They pack, unpack and build everything in a short time in "houses" that are totally different every day. One of the biggest challenges achieved was to get everything from Antwerpen in Belgium to Mannheim in Germany (430 km) within 24 hours.
Another success story is that many fans of Shakira are taking photos of themselves in front of the SEAT Catch the Fever tour trucks. The trucks are totally decorated with the tour theme and really stand out when they sit outside the arenas.
