Dreamgirls leads with eight Oscar nominations

Dreamgirls is a 2006 American musical film jointly produced and released by DreamWorks Pictures and Paramount Pictures. The film was released in three special road show engagements beginning December 15, 2006, with a nationwide expansion on December 25, 2006, and a wide release on January 12, 2007. The film's Australian release was on January 18, 2007, and the United Kingdom release was on February 2, 2007. Dreamgirls won three awards at the 64th Golden Globe Awards ceremony in 2007, including Best Picture - Musical or Comedy, and has received eight nominations for the 79th Academy Awards.

The smash soundtrack album features an incredible line-up of award-caliber performances from Beyonce, Jamie Foxx, Eddie Murphy, Anika Noni Rose and breakout star Jennifer Hudson.
