Akon's Latest Single

Akon (Aliaune Thiam) scores his second No. 1 Hot 100 hit on the album "Konvicted" as "Don't Matter" jumps 3-1 on the chart, where it is the fastest growing track at radio for a fifth week, according to Billboard.

Akon's sophomore album, entitled Konvicted, was released on November 14, 2006. Konvicted included collaborations with Eminem, Snoop Dogg and Styles P. Late August 2006, Akon released the single "Smack That" featuring Eminem, peaking at No. 2 in November after making what was then the largest jump (95-7) in the history of the Hot 100.

"Don't Matter" is the third single from Akon's sophomore album, Konvicted. It was released on January 18, 2007 in the United States. The song shows how Akon has been influenced by R. Kelly and Bob Marley. The single debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 on January 25, 2007 at number 79. The music video was released on February 9, 2007. In April 2007, the song became Akon's second number-one single in the United States.

The music video for "Smack That" was directed by Raymond Garced. "I Wanna Love You", the second single off Konvicted and Tha Blue Carpet Treatment, was released in September 2006. It is a collaboration between Akon and Snoop Dogg. This single earned Akon his first number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100, and Snoop's second. "I Wanna Love You" topped the U.S. charts for two consecutive weeks.

In January 2007, Akon released his third single "Don't Matter" which earned him his first solo number one and second consecutive Hot 100 chart topper.

That distinction now belongs to Beyonce and Shakira's "Beautiful Liar," which rockets 94-3 thanks to digital sales of 150,000 copies. The track comes from a new edition of Beyonce's "B-Day" album, due April 3.

"I Can't Wait" is the seventh and final single by Akon from his 2006 album Konvicted. The original version of this song is "You and Me" by T-Pain.
