Seahawks Beat Cowboys. Score: 21-20

Sun, Jan 07, 2007
John Brown Seattle Seahawks has won an epic encounter with the Cowboys in the NFC wildcard match-up and Indianapolis comfortably beat the Chiefs in the AFC to progress in the NFL playoffs.

"All Tony Romo had to do was put the ball down and let Martin Gramatica make an easy kick - just 19 yards, even closer than an extra point. That's where it all slipped away from the Dallas Cowboys. The Pro Bowl quarterback who saved their season ended it, too." -AP

"You coach long enough, you end up seeing just about everything," Seattle's Mike Holmgren said. "One more thing for the journal."

"It was just one of those things," Dallas coach, Bill Parcells, said. "It looked like a good snap. I can't tell you what happened after that. We're an extra point from being down to the eight teams left. That's what's the hardest thing."

It was a wild game, the Cowboys had the chance to go two points up with a short-range field goal inside the final, but holder Tony Romo muffed the snap and was tackled as he tried to run the ball in, surrendering possession to the 'Hawks who hung on for the 21-20 win.

Dallas was leding with 20-13 and successfully stopped a Seattle fourth-down conversion attempt with less than seven minutes to play, but a fumble by Terry Glenn led to a safety and Matt Hasselbeck (18-of-36 for 240 yards, two TDs, two INTs) connected with Jerramy Stevens on the following possession for a 37-yard touchdown to finish the scoring.
