Knowles' second studio album B'Day was released worldwide on September 4, 2006 and on September 5, 2006 in the U.S. to coincide with the celebration of Knowles's twenty-fifth birthday. In its first week, the album sold more than 541,000 copies in the U.S., immediately coming in at number one, making it her highest first-week sales as a solo artist. Currently, the album is certified double Platinum and has sold two million copies in the U.S. and over four million copies worldwide.

Upgrade U

is an R&B song written by Beyonce Knowles, Sean Garrett, Solange Knowles, Angela Beyince, Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter, Mk. Makeba, Willie Clarke and Clarence Reid for Beyonce's second solo album, B'Day (2006). It is her fourth collaboration with Jay-Z, who is featured on the song. The song samples Betty Wright's "Girls Can't Do What the Guys Do", and was originally going to have featured T.I.. The song is about a relationship between a female and a male; Beyonce sings that she can upgrade her man and introduce him to new things, improving his life style and reputation.

Beyonce's second solo album, B'DAY, closed out 2006 as one of the year's most successful album, coming in at #7 on Billboard's U.S. Top 10 Best-Selling Albums chart. Certified RIAA double platinum in the U.S., B'DAY has sold more than 4 million copies around the world.

Columbia Records will release B'Day - Deluxe Edition, an expanded two-CD/DVD edition of B'Day, on Tuesday, April 3. In addition to the original 11 tracks (Check On It excluded) from the album, disc one features three brand-new songs in English and disc two features six new Spanish language tracks and a DVD with videos for all B'Day track.

Knowles has contributed to the soundtracks of films in which she has starred, including Dreamgirls (2006), for which she received two Golden Globe Award nominations, one for acting and another for the soul hit "Listen".

Grammy Award winner Beyonce, Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson, and Tony Award winner Anika Noni Rose perform their hits songs from Dreamgirls, which picked up two Oscars in 2007 - Best Achievement in Sound and Best Support Actress for Hudson.
