Firefly Mobile, designer, developer and manufacturer of the industry's first Mobile Phone for Mobile Kids(TM), announced May 22, 2007, the Firefly Mobile phone designed especially for kids ages 5-9 is now available nationwide at Kmart. The phone comes with a charger and backpack clip and 30 minutes of airtime for $49.99.

The Firefly phone is designed for the smaller hands of kids and has a simple keypad with just five keys making it easier for young cell users to call parents and other pre-approved numbers quickly and easily.

Firefly Mobile phones eliminate the concerns many parents have about giving younger children "adult" mobile phones that lack the control features parents want. Firefly Mobile parental controls include the ability to pre-program outgoing numbers and only receive calls from an approved list of incoming numbers. Mom, dad and phone book keys allow kids to make one-touch calls, ensuring they are always just one key away from mom and dad. A 911 emergency button with accidental call protection connects the phone directly with emergency assistance.

Parents use a PIN to program up to 22 outgoing numbers into the phone, including speed-dial keys for mom and dad. The patented phone lights up like a firefly when in use and intermittently when in standby mode. It is about the size of a small pocket calculator and weighs two ounces.
