Fujitsu Siemens Computers rewrites the rules for Business Notebooks

Sun, Aug 03, 2008

Mobility and flexibility make more of a difference than ever between success or failure for business users: some 85 percent of companies use mobile devices in their daily business, according to the results of a TNS Infratest Study* commissioned by Fujitsu Siemens Computers. The penetration level has even reached 95 percent in Germany, while across EMEA, "Mobile Computing" is considered to be an important topic by almost 75 percent of all companies.

Directly addressing the need for enhanced mobility, the new Business Notebook portfolio from Fujitsu Siemens Computers provides a range of solutions to meet all daily business requirements: The leading European IT infrastructure provider is introducing 14 new notebook models based on the new mobility platform from Intel, the Intel® Centrino® 2 processor technology, at the beginning of August.

The new model line-up ranges from a smart, competitively-priced Tablet PC targeted at beginners and students, through to ultra-portable notebooks that guarantee unrestricted flexibility for business power users. The new range of ESPRIMO Mobiles and LIFEBOOK business notebooks complete the industry’s widest selection of portable computers – and complement the new Fujitsu Siemens Computers range of consumer notebooks, unveiled in May.

Both the ESPRIMO Mobiles and LIFEBOOK Series offer a wealth of technological innovations: Intel® Centrino 2 processor technology combines much-improved processor performance with lower power consumption. All systems also meet strict Energy Star 4.0 requirements, underlining a commitment to environmentally-conscious products.

According to the TNS survey, reliability, data security and user friendliness are the features that professionals most value in a business notebook. Fujitsu Siemens Computers is therefore enhancing its value proposition in this area by adding reliability features such as a ShockSensor to protect the hard disk drive and a robust magnesium lid, while comprehensive security is provided by functions such as optional TPM, iAMT 4.0 (for the ESPRIMO Mobile X9525) and a built-in SmartCard Reader. A sophisticated system of interchangeable accessories across all models of the product family guarantees maximum ease-of-use in daily business.

Fujitsu Siemens Computers also makes no compromises regarding connectivity since it offers an optional integrated high-speed UMTS option with every model, providing unrestricted, secure mobile access to interactive real-time services such as video conferences and VoIP.

With the TNS Infratest study revealing that around three-quarters of companies already use mobile devices for wireless communication, and that around 65 percent of companies using notebooks already have a specific mobility strategy in place, Fujitsu Siemens Computers standardizes high-speed mobile data transfers via UMTS connectivity – making it a snap for the new notebooks to send and receive large email attachments via wireless networks.

The latest ESPRIMO Mobile professional notebooks also implement the new “Core and Shell” design language recently introduced for consumer notebooks, which emphasizes functionality and increases perception of the Fujitsu Siemens Computers brand. Focused on offering stylish designs combined with user-friendliness, the new design, developed over the last two years, features intuitively-placed controls – with the base and all interfaces in noble black, while the cover and housing are in subtle anthracite.

"For Fujitsu Siemens Computers, as a leading international IT corporation and market leader in Germany, continuous innovation our business pulse. We have integrated the latest Intel® processor technology into our products from the outset and present a collection of sophisticated Business Notebooks that meet all professional needs, through being ultra-mobile as well as a complete desktop substitute," said Andreas Thimmel, Senior Vice President, Volume Business at Fujitsu Siemens Computers. "Any company that is following a specific mobility strategy and wants to create a comprehensive IT architecture will find that the new notebooks from Fujitsu Siemens Computers are of immediate appeal.“

ESPRIMO Mobile notebooks also feature absolute reliability thanks to shock sensor, spill-proof keyboard and a robust magnesium cover. The portfolio ranges from an ultra-portable model, the ESPRIMO Mobile U9210, a fully-equipped desktop replacement, the ESPRIMO Mobile M9410, and a high-performance machine with an emphasis on graphics and performance, the ESPRIMO Mobile X9510 and X9525.

The business line plus, the LIFEBOOK Series, offers a combination of optimized weight, size and style. All models are lightweight, making them ideal for frequent travelers who also value the combination of elegance and functionality. Two new models, the LIFEBOOK T5010 and the LIFEBOOK T1010, available from mid-August, are sophisticated tablet PCs. The LIFEBOOK T1010 in stylish white is attractively-priced and equipped with special educational software, is very suitable for beginners and students, while the LIFEBOOK T5010 is aimed at high-end business users. Weighing just 2 kg, it is one of the lightest fully-equipped 13.3-inch Tablet PCs on the market.
