LaCie today announced availability of its new 700 series of LCD monitors designed to offer the closest match between captured, displayed, and printed colors for creative professionals needing superior color accuracy. Available as the 20-inch LaCie 720, 24-inch LaCie 724, and the 30-inch LaCie 730, the complete 700 series is designed to offer a color experience that mimics real life by embedding some of today’s most advanced display technologies.

Thanks to the 700 series’ innovative RGB-LED backlight, these color accurate monitors are able to produce purer red, green and blue primaries that result in a larger range of vibrant colors previously not obtainable with more common LCD displays. With ultra-wide gamuts of up to 123 percent* of Adobe RGB, the need for gamut mapping is minimized thus enabling a lossless workflow from image capture to print.

“The cutting edge technology embedded in LaCie’s new 700 series Monitors supports the color-critical workflow of prepress operators, photographers and graphic designers by enabling the most-precise on-screen proofing yet.” said Daniel Mayer, LaCie’s Color Business Unit Manager.

All 700 Series Monitors are bundled with LaCie’s blue eye pro Proof Edition calibration software package**. This software allows the ability to calibrate and profile displays, verify profile accuracy and maintain display uniformity. This updated calibration software also embeds an advanced color-accuracy and gray balance precision certification test developed by UGRA – the Swiss Centre of Competence for Media and Printing Technology. This test is based on the ISO 12646 standard and the color patches of the widely accepted UGRA/FOGRA MediaWedge. This certification brings customers an unprecedented level of confidence in the reliability of their softproofing-based workflows.

The LaCie 700 series also embeds ColorKeeper, an advanced backlight stabilizer technology that constantly analyzes brightness and chromaticity of the backlight, and then adjusts it in real time. Included 14-bit Gamma Correction lookup tables ensure delicate gradient rendering without banding and smooth color transitions that are 64 times more precise than on consumer-quality 8-bit monitors.

The LaCie 724 and 730 monitors feature a 16:10 wide-screen format, large enough for two letter-size (A4) pages to display side-by-side with additional room for palettes and toolbars. For customers preferring the 4:3 aspect ratio, the LaCie 720 is a perfect alternative. To further enhance the convenience of the workspace, these monitors feature an integrated USB 2.0 hub so users can conveniently connect most additional peripherals such as a colorimeter or USB hard disk. All 700 series monitors also ship with the LaCie easyHood that prevents ambient light from interfering with color sensitive applications thanks to an anti-reflective black velvet lining.

Availability

The LaCie 720, 724, and 730 monitors are available through the LaCie Online Store, LaCie Reseller+ or LaCie Color Partner at the suggested retail price of $1599, $2299, and $4599.
