Unveiled at CeBIT, new widescreen display easily connects up to six screens

Thu, Mar 06, 2008

ASUS and DisplayLink today announced worldwide availability of a new 22-inch LCD monitor with integrated DisplayLink technology. The VW223B, which is compatible with Windows Vista Aero and enables up to six monitors to be daisy chained over one standard USB 2.0 cable, will be unveiled at CeBIT in Hanover, from March 4-9, at the ASUS stand (Hall 26, stand D39).

ASUS is a leading provider of 3C total solutions, manufacturing more than 16 product lines, including notebooks and PC motherboards, as well as LCD monitors. Using DisplayLink's DL-160 chip, the ASUS VW223B will enable users to use the popular USB connector to easily connect multiple displays to any mainstream PC or laptop,. The monitor also offers widescreen resolution (1680x1050) and extremely quick response times to enable smooth video display without image delay or ghosting across any of the connected screens.

"Our vision is to enable non-expert mainstream users to seamlessly connect multiple displays with their computer of choice," said Vincent Chiou, director of ASUS Display BU. "With DisplayLink, we're empowering our customers to use a single notebook or PC, and expand their digital desktop viewing at will to perfectly fit their need. Many studies have proven the substantial productivity increase that businesses derive from increasing the number of displays a typical employee uses."

The ASUS VW223B with embedded DisplayLink technology offers high-quality, fully interactive 32-bit true-colour graphics, as well as fully supporting the 3D capabilities of the Windows Vista Aero interface for USB-connected displays with an unparalleled user experience.

"With the rapid adoption of our USB connectivity technology by monitor, notebook docking station and USB to DVI or VGA adapter manufacturers, we're delighted that ASUS has now added our technology to its portfolio," said Hamid Farzaneh, CEO of DisplayLink. "ASUS is one of the main LCD monitor players, and we're confident this partnership will enable us to make widespread multiple monitor computing a reality.
