AMD Imageon M180 Media Processor Powers Stunning Multimedia in the New LG KC550 5 Megapixel Mobile Phone

AMD (NYSE: AMD) today announced that the AMD Imageon™ M180 media processor is powering the ultra-fast, high-resolution image processing, DVD-quality video and high-definition audio features in the new LG KC550 mobile phone. AMD’s innovative processor technology helps enable LG to deliver the latest multimedia features that consumers demand.

The LG KC550 phone features such multimedia functions as a 5 Mpixel camera with an advanced image stabilizer, MP3 music player, high-resolution video recorder and DVD-quality video player, all of which are driven by the processing power of the AMD Imageon M180 media processor. To further enhance the user experience, AMD technology enables autorotation of images on the 2.4 inch display of this new lightweight GSM phone, allowing users to easily switch between portrait and landscape views.

The LG KC550 is packed with features not typically found on mobile phones in its price range, such as the 5 Mpixel camera. With a Schneider-Kreuznach lens with auto focus, an image stabilizer and video capture resolution up to 720x480 pixels at 30 frames per second, the LG KC550 has been touted as one of the best phones on the market for video recording.1 This new LG GSM mobile phone is currently available in Europe.
