Grand Theft Auto IV (also known as GTA IV) is the upcoming eleventh installment of the Grand Theft Auto video game franchise, announced for release by Rockstar Games on October 16, 2007 in the United States for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Today Rockstar has released the debut trailer for
Grand Theft Auto IV. So what does it reveal?
The GTA IV game is set to be in Liberty City, or another fictionalised version of New York City, where it appears that a Russian guy looking for a fresh start in town. The first 1 minute trailer doesn't give away too much information of course, it's mainly a couple of flybys around the city to show off the new and immensely improved graphics engine and a little bit of an introduction of the main character.
The trailer features familiar New York City landmarks, including locations and structures resembling Times Square, the Statue of Liberty and the MetLife Building (branded as "GetaLife").
The character has a brief monologue: "Life is complicated; I killed people, smuggled people, sold people. Perhaps here, things will be different."
Probably the most innovative aspects of what is after all a very short trailer are the lighting and the density of population.
