Stelera Wireless today announced
that it has launched the first two markets of its rural broadband networks
build in the United States. Nokia Siemens Networks has supplied an
end-to-end network solution and turnkey services for this initial
deployment and will continue to do so as the network expands.
Nokia Siemens Networks is supplying its industry-leading flat, all-IP
Internet High Speed Packet Access (I-HSPA) architecture solution, which
includes the company's flagship Flexi Base Station optimized for the
Advanced Wireless Services (AWS) spectrum band. The end-to-end offering
consists of network and service core, backhaul and wireless broadband
access in addition to turnkey services like network planning, spectrum
clearing, site acquisition and construction, installation, integration,
optimization, as well as maintenance, and interoperability testing with end
user devices.
"We consider it no easy feat that Stelera Wireless is one of the first
carriers to commercially launch a network in the AWS spectrum bands," said
Ed Evans, CEO, Stelera Wireless. "Nokia Siemens Networks has been excellent
in working with us to ensure fast time to market with the most advanced and
effective broadband wireless technology available today for the AWS
spectrum."
"Nokia Siemens Networks is happy to announce Stelera as yet another
major customer for our pioneering flat, all-IP wireless network solutions,"
said Sue Spradley, Head of North America, Nokia Siemens Networks. "With
Stelera, we were able to demonstrate our ability to help carriers put their
newly acquired spectrum assets into commercial service quickly and show
that our industry-leading flat, all-IP network architecture enables cost
effective and competitive delivery of broadband services."
Stelera is a wireless startup that is focused on delivering broadband
services in rural communities. It owns 42 AWS licenses across the United
States covering almost 6 million people. AWS licenses were auctioned by the
FCC last year and utilize the 2.1 GHz and 1.7 GHz bands.
