Analysts at American Technology Research said on Tuesday in a report that the demand for PlayStation 3 new console may be softening.
After monitoring a group of stores, the analysts say that Nintendo's new Wii was sold out and PlayStation 3 can be found on half of the surveyed stores.
"Our channel checks yesterday of 52 retail stores, from boutiques to big-box retailers, showed that 28 of the 52 stores had PS3 consoles in stock, while none had Wii consoles in stock," American Technology Research analyst Paul-Jon McNealy said in the report.
McNealy said also that PS3s are available because of their the high price compared with Nintendo's Wiis.
Dave Karraker, Sony spokesman, responded by saying: "It isn't because demand has weakened; it is because we have kept the supply pipeline moving."
Sony reported on January 16 that it has sold in about two months after the launch over 2 millions PS3s in North America and Japan.
Sony Computer Entertainment said it stuck to its target to ship 6 million PS3 by March.
