The best-selling console in the US over Christmas is Xbox 360. Market analysts NPD estimate that 2 million Xbox 360 units were sold in North America from November up until December 25. Microsoft's console wasn't hit by shortage problems like the competition.
Nintendo sold 1.8 million Wii units. The console was launched in North America on November 19 and Nintendo plans to release 6 million console units and 17 million software units until March 31, 2007.
Sony sold around 750,000 PlayStations 3 last year. Sony had planned to ship 4 million PlayStation 3 players this year to the US and Japan, but revised that total in September following the move of the European launch back to March 2007.
The complete figures will be relesed later this month.
