Nec And Netezza To Jointly Develop Data Warehouse Appliance

MARLBOROUGH, MA and TOKYO, Japan - Netezza Corporation (NYSE: NZ), the global leader in data warehouse and analytic appliances, and NEC Corporation (TSE:6701), a global leader in networking, communications and information technology, today announced an agreement to jointly develop NEC-branded data warehouse appliances to be sold by NEC worldwide – with an initial focus on Japan and the Asia Pacific region.

The new appliances will combine Netezza’s streaming architecture and analytical database software with NEC’s Blade server and Storage platforms. NEC will manufacture, sell and distribute the jointly developed data warehouse appliances, the first of which – InfoFrame DWH Appliance – is expected to be available in April 2010.

NEC has been marketing and selling Netezza’s products since 2006, deploying data warehouse appliances to top firms throughout Japan.
