Google Books Database will be updated with more than one million books from the University of Texas. Google Book Search will allow users to pay for premium content such as rare books.
University of Texas at Austin becomes Google Books Library Project Partner
"Known as the fifth largest academic library in the United States, the University of Texas Libraries house some of the nation's leading collections, including the world-renowned Nettie Lee Benson Latin American Collection. Soon, researchers and history lovers all over the world will be able to search more than one million books and materials from the University of Texas, including selections from these unique works from early Latin American history."
"Working together, Google and the University of Texas will digitize over a million books from the university's collection. Anyone will be able to freely view, browse, and read the university's public domain documents. For books protected by copyright, users will be able to see basic background (such as the book's title and the author's name), at most a few lines of text related to their search, and information about where they can buy or borrow a book."
Google Books Publisher Partner Program
The Google Books Partner Program is developing new ways to help publishers make more money from their books. The first of these new tools allows you to sell immediate online access to your books.
With online access, users who discover a book through Google Book Search will be able to pay for immediate access to its full contents. You decide if a book should be available, and you set the online access price. The book will be available to users only through their browser, and only when they've signed in with their personal account. Users cannot save a copy on their computer or copy pages from the book.
"As we digitize more of the world's books - whether rare, common, popular or obscure - people everywhere will be able to discover them on Google Book Search."
Book Search is a tool from Google works just like web search: Try a search on Google Book Search or on Google.com. When we find a book whose content contains a match for your search terms, we'll link to it in your search results. Clicking on a book result, you'll be able to see everything from a few short excerpts to the entire book, depending on a few different factors.
Google Book Search is a tool from Google that searches the full text of books that Google scans and stores in its digital database. The service was formerly known as Google Print when it was introduced at the Frankfurt Book Fair in October 2004. - Wikipedia
