WebMD Health Corp. (Nasdaq:
WBMD) today announced that WebMD the Magazine is the third most-read
magazine among all health related magazines, according to the latest MARS
OTC/DTC national media and marketing study. The study also shows WebMD the
Magazine has the second largest audience among female health titles in the
25-54 age range. WebMD the Magazine was launched less than three years ago.
WebMD the Magazine now reaches an audience of nearly 9 million
consumers, connecting with the consumer right before they meet with their
physician in the doctor's office. Like WebMD's award-winning web site,
http://www.webmd.com, WebMD the Magazine presents health content in an interactive
format, with trusted health and wellness information on a range of topics
including nutrition, fitness and beauty, sleep and parenting advice. All
editorial content in the magazine is medically reviewed and approved by
WebMD staff physicians.
"We are excited about the success of WebMD the Magazine as it extends
our ability to reach consumers with actionable health information in order
to help them make more informed health care decisions and have more
productive conversations with their physicians," said Nan Forte, Editor in
Chief, WebMD the Magazine.
WebMD the Magazine's audience is an engaged readership that is driven
to action. The latest VISTA study on print effectiveness ratings shows an
action-taken profile among WebMD readers that was 58% higher than DTC norms
for all magazines.
The most recent issue of WebMD the Magazine is the largest issue since
launch, featuring advertisements from leading pharmaceutical and consumer
packaged goods companies such as Johnson & Johnson, Procter and Gamble,
GlaxoSmithKline, Colgate-Palmolive and Bristol-Myers Squibb, among others.
WebMD the Magazine consistently attracts advertisers who are looking to
reach health-involved consumers and women who are healthcare decision
makers for their families.
WebMD the Magazine is the only health publication to exclusively
feature celebrities on every cover, each who have a personal health-related
story they share with readers. Since the magazine's inception, eighteen
stars have graced the cover and shared personal stories, including Patrick
Dempsey, Ashley Judd, Martha Stewart, Susan Sarandon and Andy Garcia.
The latest issue of WebMD the Magazine focuses on women's health,
highlighted with an interview from Kelly Ripa discussing her balance
between parenting and career. Also, in the May/June issue, designer Marc
Jacobs showcases his skin cancer T-shirt campaign and actor Evan Handler
offers advice to cancer patients.
