From CTIA WIRELESS 2008, Verizon Wireless, the builder and operator of the
nation's most reliable wireless voice and data network, and MTV Networks
(MTVN), a unit of Viacom (NYSE: VIA and VIA.B), today announced the launch
of two new MTVN channels on Verizon Wireless' V CAST Video service --
GameTrailers and The N.
The GameTrailers channel on V CAST Video is the premier destination for
customers looking for video game entertainment and information, offering
customers game trailers, reviews, interviews and event news, as well as Go
Gaming, an original series dedicated entirely to the coverage of mobile
games. The N channel on V CAST Video features clips from hot teen shows,
including Degrassi, South of Nowhere, Instant Star, and more.
Ryan Hughes, vice president of digital media programming for Verizon,
said, "The addition of The N and GameTrailers on V CAST is another proof
point of our strong relationship with MTV Networks and demonstrates our
commitment to bringing a wide array of content to V CAST phones that meets
our customers' needs and interests."
"We create mobile video for nearly every demographic -- from kids to
adults and everywhere in between -- and our fans can now access nearly all
of that content on Verizon Wireless handsets," said Greg Clayman, executive
vice president, digital distribution and business development, MTVN. "With
this launch, we're putting the power of the great GameTrailers and The N
brands behind our partnership with Verizon Wireless, and even more engaging
content into the hands of our consumers."
These channels join Verizon Wireless' other V CAST Video channels from
MTVN, including MTV, Nickelodeon, COMEDY CENTRAL, VH1, CMT, Logo, Spike,
MTV Tr3s, and Atom Films. In 2007, MTVN streamed more than 26 million on
demand videos to V CAST Video customers. MTVN's channels on V CAST Video
join its stable of streaming broadcast-quality channels with full-length
shows on V CAST Mobile TV, including MTV, COMEDY CENTRAL, Nickelodeon, as
well as MTV Tr3s, which launched on March 29.
Customers with select V CAST-enabled phones can check out V CAST
whenever they want for just $3.00 for 24-hour use or by signing up for the
$15.00 V CAST VPak monthly subscription, which also includes access to
Verizon Wireless' ESPN MVP, Get It Now(R) and Mobile Web 2.0(SM) services.
Customers get unlimited basic video -- including the GameTrailers and The N
channels -- but application download fees apply for 3D games and premium
video. There are no airtime or megabyte charges to download, stream or
watch V CAST content with any V CAST subscription.
