Chrysler LLC has recently been recognized by the NAACP and Black Enterprise magazine for its commitment to diversity. Specifically, the organizations highlighted the company's diversity accomplishments and results with multicultural employees, suppliers and customers.
Black Enterprise magazine lists Chrysler as one of its 2008 "40 Best
Companies for Diversity" for the fourth consecutive year. Companies
selected for the report are identified for their demonstrated strength and
performance in four key categories: supplier diversity, senior management,
board involvement and employee base.
The NAACP identified Chrysler as the best company in the automotive
sector within its 12th Annual Economic Reciprocity Report. The report
details corporate diversity progress in multiple industries and across five
categories: African American employment, marketing/communications, supplier
diversity, dealerships and charitable giving.
Chrysler was recognized by the NAACP's report for its leadership
efforts in supplier diversity and charitable giving, receiving a grade of
A- in each category from the organization. The company's Diversity Supplier
Development program was rated as the best in the industry.
"The fiercely competitive global automotive market demands that
companies identify and cultivate effective leaders at every level," said
Nancy Rae, Chrysler LLC Executive Vice President - Human Resources and
Corporate Communications. "Leadership development is a key metric for
success at Chrysler and is seen as a strategic investment and a competitive
advantage for the company."
Within the July 2008 issue of Black Enterprise, Chrysler LLC employee
Tonya Berry is profiled as an up-and-coming leader within the company based
upon her work assignments, educational accomplishments and cross-functional
development opportunities.
Also for the fourth consecutive year, the Chrysler Supplier Diversity
program is highlighted as an asset by the magazine and cited as a key
reason the company has made the "40 Best Companies for Diversity" list.
"Diversity is a key strategic tool at Chrysler and plays an important
role as the company continues to enhance its competitive position," said
Monica Emerson, Chrysler LLC Executive Director - Global Diversity Office.
"Being recognized for our diversity efforts by leading organizations like
the NAACP and Black Enterprise magazine is inspiring and motivates us to
remain steadfastly committed to diversity in all aspects of our company."
