American Water today
announced the acquisition of S.J. Services, Inc. by its subsidiary, New
Jersey American Water. Located in Gloucester County, S.J. Services, Inc.
has two regulated utility subsidiaries, the Pennsgrove Water Supply Company
and the South Jersey Water Supply Company. The acquisition will add more
than 7,200 customers in Oldmans, Carneys Point, Harrison and Logan
Townships and Penns Grove Borough to the company's customer base. The
acquisition was approved by the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities
(NJBPU) on September 19, 2007.
New Jersey American Water President John Bigelow praised the
acquisition. "Customers will benefit not only from New Jersey American
Water's industry expertise, but also from its commitment to providing a
great customer experience," he said. "Oldmans, Carneys Point, Harrison and
Logan Township and Penns Grove Borough residents who meet the program
criteria will now be eligible to participate in New Jersey American Water's
customer assistance programs, H2O Help to Others and the Low Income Payment
Plan. Customers will soon receive welcome packages explaining New Jersey
American Water's customer service and support options."
New Jersey American Water is the largest investor-owned water utility
in the state, providing high-quality and reliable water and/or wastewater
services to more than 2.6 million people. In addition to its regulated
