MasterCard Worldwide today announced
the promotion of Michael Manchisi to chief technology officer.
Manchisi succeeds Rob Reeg, who recently was appointed president of
MasterCard Global Technology & Operations (GTO) after serving as interim
president since January 2008.
In his new role, Manchisi is responsible for leading the company in the
areas of computer infrastructure and operations, network engineering,
customer support, processing solutions and service definition and customer
technology relationship management.
From its headquarters in O'Fallon, Mo., MasterCard GTO manages its
operations in 210 countries and territories, including major processing
centers in Brussels, Sydney and Chennai. For 25,000 financial institutions,
the MasterCard network in 2007 processed 18.7 billion transactions with a
gross dollar volume of $2.3 trillion. The MasterCard network has the
capacity to handle 140 million transactions per hour with a response time
of 140 milliseconds and 99.999 percent network availability.
"Mike Manchisi is a MasterCard veteran. He has extensive knowledge of
the financial services and payments industry as well as an understanding of
the critical importance of technology in driving our business. In his 21
years at MasterCard, Mike has accumulated experience and perspective that
is invaluable as, through his role as CTO, he helps MasterCard continue to
grow its leadership in payment processing and innovation," Reeg said.
Manchisi most recently was group executive, MasterCard Strategic
Account Management, overseeing GTO partnerships with MasterCard customers
and internal business partners in order to maximize the value of GTO
capabilities. He has held senior leadership positions in MasterCard
corporate and regional finance, customer service, and computer and network
services.
Manchisi is a member of the board of directors of the Sheldon Arts
Foundation in St. Louis and is a member of its program and marketing
committee. He serves on the finance committee of the Family Resource
Center, which provides services related to child abuse and neglect in the
greater St. Louis area. He earned a bachelor's degree in accounting at
Fordham University and CPA certification in the state of New York.
